Natalie Catullo is the designer behind The Purple Sister, a brand that she describes as a love letter to girlhood. Growing up in an early-2000s sister duo, there were two very specific identities: the pink sister and the purple sister. Natalie was the purple sister.
That childhood world of dress-up, whimsy, and growing up with a built-in best friend became the foundation of her brand. With a background in the arts, Natalie approaches fashion through imagination first. Her designs begin as hand-drawn sketches, often made with colorful markers or glitter gel pens, before she moves into selecting textiles, calculating measurements, and drafting patterns.

Crochet • Wearable Art • Clothing • Accessories
The Purple Sister creates crocheted ponchos, shawls, scarves, chokers, belts, sarongs, tank tops, skirts, and dresses, with even more categories Natalie hopes to explore in the future.
-
Girlhood, sisterhood, vintage lace patterns, hyper-femininity, and the simple joy of playing dress-up.
Natalie also draws from the history of crochet itself, combining stitches pioneered by women in the 19th century with modern silhouettes, colors, and textiles. Her work embraces the femininity she loved as a child and eventually found her way back to as an adult.
-
Every piece is designed and crocheted by hand. Natalie sees that slowness as part of what makes the work special: each garment is quite literally built from nothing, stitch by stitch and knot by knot.
Because crochet cannot be machine replicated in the same way as many other textiles, The Purple Sister is rooted in an inherently slow and intentional process.

Sparkly. Imaginative. Playful.
