Jewelles Imani is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter and performer originally from Dayton, Ohio, now pursuing her work as an artist in New York City. She’s been writing music for more than a decade, turning the weird, overwhelming, sentimental parts of growing up into songs that feel like reading someone else’s diary and realizing they’ve been feeling the exact same things you have. (Dayton Metro Library)
Her music lives somewhere between singer-songwriter and indie pop: intimate, wistful and incredibly personal, but still catchy enough to stay with you. Jewelles describes herself as a certified “sad black girl,” and much of her work centers on memory, identity, relationships and the uncertainty that comes with entering adulthood. (Bandsintown)
Music has been part of her life since childhood. She remembers listening to jazz and learning to scat with her parents while painting in their kitchen, and has cited artists including SZA, Lizzy McAlpine and Reneé Rapp among the music that helped her reconnect with her own identity. (Apple Music - Web Player)
-
Start with The Refining, Jewelles’ 2025 EP. Songs including “Nostalgia on Route 4,” “On Trial,” and “Turning 20” give you a really good introduction to the world she’s building. Then go backward to “Lobby,” “Glass Pot,” and “blue and sentimental.” (Apple Music)
-
There’s something special about finding an artist while their world is still being built. Jewelles’ music doesn’t feel like it’s trying to make growing up prettier or simpler than it actually is. It’s sentimental, a little messy, and deeply self-aware.
And that’s kind of the point of this whole section. We don’t want to tell you what everyone is already listening to. We want to introduce you to the girls making something worth listening to next.
Flava’s Flix
Flava’s Flixs is a celebration of girlhood, nostalgia, and giving something once loved a new life. Rooted in sustainability, each piece transforms existing materials into something playful, personal, and meant to be worn again and again. It’s fashion that feels like playing dress up in Fancy Nancys closet: Where girlhood lives forever
So This Happened?!
GETTY IMAGESSarah Jessica Parker and Stevie Nicks at the New York City Ballet, because apparently New York decided to put two of its most enduring style references in the same room. Both have made careers out of embracing a distinctly feminine kind of excess: the layers, the drama, the romance, the accessories, and the belief that getting dressed should never be boring. Consider this our reminder that having “too much” personal style might not actually exist.
The Verdict: Do we Love it?
We see the looks. We have our opinions. But we want yours. From red carpets to random street style moments, this is where you get to decide what’s actually worth the hype. Slide the scale, cast your vote, and see if the girls agree.
One rule around here: we’re rating the look, never the woman wearing it. THE VERDICT is about personal style, what we’d wear, and what we wouldn’t. Keep it about the clothes and keep it kind.

Alex Consani in Leopard Print:
Alex Consani makes the case for wearing the loud thing like it’s the most obvious choice in your closet. A full leopard coat could easily wear you, but paired with denim, pointed heels, dark sunglasses and an oversized black bag, it suddenly feels effortless.
SIPPY’S VERDICT: ABSOLUTELY.

Lili Reinhart in Ellie Saab
Lili Reinhart in Elie Saab is a reminder that femininity doesn’t have to be quiet to feel elegant. The soft pink, trailing green florals, delicate embroidery and sheer detailing take everything traditionally “girly” and make it feel commanding.
SIPPY’S VERDICT: ABSOLUTELY.

Words For The Week…
LITTLE MISS CHATTERBOX: BY, ERICA SCHWARTZ
“Nicknamed “Little Miss Chatterbox” by my preschool teachers, I’ve always loved sharing words and telling stories. I’ve also always loved playing dress-up, using clothes like I use words to craft a story. How lucky am I that I get to (sometimes) make money doing both! As a burgeoning journalist and small business owner, I love telling stories that explore the intersection of fashion, sustainability, and gender politics. Friends and strangers alike have compared me to a modern Carrie Bradshaw, but maybe it's just the big blonde hair — I’ve never seen the show, so I’ll let you decide.”
